Solo Scooper.....
.....or serving lunch without Bro.
September was shopgirls on the job training month to get her up to speed on the hows and whys of serving lunch to the rowdy but cute grade school crowd. I must have somehow convinced Bro that I know what I am doing because as of today, the first school day in October, serving lunch is my gig. (even if I don't know what I am doing up there, hows he gonna know? The kids got fed and lived to tell the tale!) He stays at the shop to get shop related work done and I head up to the school about 1030 with a van loaded with lunch.
I don't really serve solo, as there is another girl who works with me. She and I work together well and have a good time, so its all good. I am thinking that Bro is going to show up at the school sometime this week, not because he is checking up on me, but because this has been his gig for so long and hes going to miss the interaction with those little kidlets.
Todays menu: Grilled Cheese, Tomato Soup, Carrots/Celery, Apple Slices and Baked Pears. Brown Bag lunches (12 count) today was Chicken Salad Sandwiches, Apple Slices, Carrots/Celery and Baked Pears.
The Juice situation is still quite curious as the Very Berry still doesn't move and the Fruit Punch is in high demand. I am surprised, as I really expected the Very Berry to take an upswing in popularity today.
Scoop count today was interesting. I scooped butter to make the grilled cheese sandwiches. I actually buttered in excess of 230 slices of bread. I also made brownie bites for tomorrow's lunch dessert. I do not know what was up with the mix as I ended up with half a pan less today than I did last week. Still plenty for lunches, so I suppose that is all that counts. (Brownie Bites count = 132)
This afternoon Bro made stuffed peppers with a vegetarian stuffing. We were ooohing and ahhhing over it as it looked SO good and as he began to cook it down, it smelled wonderful. Once he had the peppers stuffed, we began to discuss how else we could use this filling and what we could put it in or on. We eventually decided to try it as a filling for a quessadilla. OMG! Talk about tasty!
Oh, what's that? You want to know what went IN the filling? Hey, for all I know it could end up in the CIA's cookbook (see previous posting "The CIA!?!). Giggle. If ya wanna know, you are gonna have to ask nicely. Lets just say, with some cilantro sour cream and a beer, this quessadilla would have been close to heaven!
In closing, does anyone out there have any idea why it is so difficult to comprehend the meaning of "I work EVERY day"? ( visualize shopgirl's eyes shooting daggers .....)

As for not understanding the concept behind "I work every day" - all I can say is it seems to be a disease, manifesting itself only in a certain group of people ... I know someone that has a similar illness from that same group
