Counting Scoops.......
...... or who's counting?
Shopgirl scooped over 1250 total scoops today. That's a lot of scoops. Posed to me today: "You don't really COUNT them all, do you?" Short answer: Yes. Long answer: You sure you wanna know?
Todays lunch count was 128 when I got to the shop this morning. That indicates that we have to, at the very least, have enough food prepared and transported to feed 128 hungry mouths. In addition to that 128, we can count on what we refer to as "add-ons". These are kids who have neglected to tell the office that they are buying lunch on any given day, or have not submitted in a monthly, prepaid menu. We do not want to turn a famished child away, so we always prepare well beyond the daily count. In the end, we dished out 138 total lunches today. We did not run out of food.
Todays menu: Angel Hair Pasta (w/ sauce or melted butter), Garlic Bread, Green Salad, Orange Slices and Brownie Bites. As I mentioned in yesterdays blogging, the VERY BERRY has been ousted as the Juice of Choice and has been replaced by the FRUIT PUNCH. At this rate the kids are going to be faced with a choice of only two juices as we are running out of FRUIT PUNCH. To say nothing of the fact that they are probably driving the teachers insane after injesting all that red dye at lunch time.
Today's Lunch Scoop List consisted of the following:
144 brownie bites (into mini tins to be baked)
138 brownie bites (added to each lunch tray or brown bag)
414 Oranges Slices (3 slices each x 138 Lunches)
138 Green Salad Scoops
168 Slices of Garlic Bread (sliced and buttered before heating) (YEAH, YEAH! I hear ya. Shopgirl, slicing bread is not "scooping". Oh YEAH? Well, it is when I am the one "who's counting"! giggle!)
Lunch Scoop total stands at 1002.
Besides Scooping for lunch I also scooped after we got back to the shop and had cleaned up from lunch an additional
122 Peanut Butter Cookies (to be frozen and ready to go when needed)
126 Sugar Cookies (to be baked Friday Morning for lunch dessert)

Thank you for doing the math. That was WAY more than I wanted to do, although, I did briefly consider it.
LOL re: Fruit Punch! I will have to let you know how it goes after tomorrows lunch.
