The Macaroni and Cheese/Chicken Nugget Rush.....

.....or now serving # 147.

Yes, you read that correctly. Final lunch count today was 147 happy, well fed children. Macaroni and Cheese/Chicken Nugget day is one of the favorites. We began the morning with a tentative count of 118 Hot, 3 Vegetarian and 4 Brown Bag Lunches and ended the day with a total count of 147. That is a fair amount of what we refer to as "add-ons". Not really horrifying or surprising but certainly requires a bit more work and a lot of math. If you know me well, or even a little, you know how much shopgirl enjoys math. (yeah, not so much, eh?)

Are you a bit curious as to what it takes to feed 147 lunches? I started the day preparing the 4 Brown Bags, plus the 2 extras I always prepare in case of an "add-on" Brown Bag. Today we had 2 "add-on" Brown Bags. SOLD OUT! giggle Todays Brown Bag consisted of Turkey/Cheese/Lettuce, Brownie Bites, Carrots/Celery and Orange Slices. Easy! That turned out to be the only no brainer of the whole lunch extravaganza!

3 Vegetarian meals means we cook off 18 Vegetarian Nuggets. The rest of the count required 624+ Chicken Nuggets. We baked and served 3 hotel pans full of Macaroni and Cheese, 147 Brownie Bites, 445 Orange Slices, and 882 Carrot/Celery sticks.

Shocker....VERY BERRY is still on the "avoid at almost all costs" list. I am wondering what is up with that!

This lunch was served in its entirety in under 60 minutes. You are welcome to do the math if you would like. Shopgirls brain is too tired to deal with it. Please feel free to share if you do compute the lunches per minute, as I am sure all would love to know.

The kids are getting a bit annoyed by the FACT that Bro does not come up to lunch anymore. I had one girl in particular today, bounce up to the lunch line and plant herself with a look on her face. I said "what's up, Miss Jennie?" and she replies" WHERE is Chef Bro?!?" I told her that he is busy with things at the shop and asked if perhaps she needs him to come up. She replied in the afirmative after which I promised I would relay her request to him. My guess is Bro will show up at the Lunch Line at some point either later this week or early next. The kids are used to seeing him and they miss him. It's cute.

Okay, this whole "Shopgirl serves lunch while Bro works in the shop" might be a bad idea. VERY BAD! He seems to have waaaay too much time on his hands. I get back to the shop after lunch and he says to me. "Go into the kitchen and look to the right". I did so and then let out a very loud "arrrgggghhhhhh!!!".
He responded by saying "JOB SECURITY!"with a wicked grin.
Sigh!

I will Photograph my "job security" tomorrow and share it with you.

Yeah, yeah, I know. You want to know NOW. Sadly for you, I have no pic and am not going to tell you today. Patience IS a virtue, ya know, or so I have been told. Personally, when told that, I reply without skipping a beat "which I do not possess". giggle

Scoop ya soon,
