DON'T EAT THE PAPER.....

......or what are YOU thankful for?

Family Thanksgiving is always fun and full of laughter. This year was no different.

We have a tradition with the rolls for dinner. One of the kids is tasked with cutting up strips of paper and handing them out to each member of the family. Each family member is to write a "thankful" thought on said paper and return it to the kid. The papers are then deposited back to me so that I can insert them into the unbaked rolls. Once we are sitting to dinner, each person takes a roll, locates the "thankful note" and reads it aloud to the family. We try to guess who wrote it and have a grand time with it. The baby's was not hard to figure out. She is thankful for "Bob and Larry". She is 3.5 years old. If you are not familiar with a 3 year olds passions, Bob and Larry are the tomato and the cucumber from the Veggie Tales series.

Thats not the funny part of the Thanksgiving roll story. Years ago, Daddy couldn't find his paper in his roll. We know each roll contained one so all we can figure out is that Daddy ate his paper. LOL! This year, it was Bro's turn to eat the paper. He swears there wasn't one in his, but I assembled the rolls for baking and I KNOW that every roll, save one, had a paper in it. The odd roll out was rolled in an entirely different fashion to distinguish it from the "thankful" rolls. Now that I think about it, perhaps that makes the odd roll out, the "Unthankful" roll. Bro now gets to join daddy's ranks each year when the kids start talking about "remember when you ate the thankful paper in your roll?".

scoop ya soon,

Ah yes, the "Thankful Rolls" - I love that idea

And I bet that your dad is happy there is someone else to share the embarassment with! :)

What an awesome idea and such fun when someone becomes the butt of a long running joke.

I like the idea of guessing who wrote what because you know people are always going to try an guess anyway might as well make a game out of it.
