Thursday Thirteen.....

......Trivialities
  1. The dimensions of a regulation football field are: 360 feet long and 160 feet wide. (Have I mentioned I have a football problem?)
  2. All the moons of the Solar System are named after Greek and Roman mythology, except the moons of Uranus, which are named after Shakespearean characters. ("I hope they find Oompa Loompas on Uranus" ~ my kids)
  3. Gatorade was named for the University of Florida Gators where it was first developed.(What do they make Gatorade out of anyways? Hopefully not out of Gators! GO GATORS!)
  4. Any month that starts on a Sunday will have a Friday the 13th in it. (Good to know so that one can plan their month accordingly.)
  5. Rhythms" is the longest English word without the normal vowels, a, e, i, o, or u. (Its a good thing they invented that whole "and sometimes Y, isn't it?)
  6. Offered a new pen to write with, 97% of all people will write their own name. (QUICK! Someone offer me a new pen!)
  7. A cough releases an explosive charge of air that moves at speeds up to 60 mph. (Well THAT explains a lot. I am exhausted due to the constant releasing of explosive air charges when coughing.)
  8. In Italy, espresso is considered so essential to daily life that the price is regulated by the government. (Oh to live in Italy where I don't need to worry that my Latte will increase in price at the whim of the establishment.)
  9. One plain milk chocolate candy bar has more protein than a banana. (Plus, the chocolate bar doens't go bad after a few days on the counter.)
  10. In 1925, the 1st motel -- the "Motel Inn" -- opened in San Luis Obispo, California. (Is it still there, Missy?)
  11. Dr. Seuss wrote "Green Eggs and Ham" after his editor dared him to write a book using fewer than 50 different words. (could you, would you, on a blog?)
  12. Donald Duck lives at 1313 Webfoot Walk, Duckburg, Calisota. (The Donald is my hero!)
  13. Nabisco's "Oreo's" are the world's best-selling brand of cookie at a rate of 6 billion sold each year. The first Oreo was sold in 1912. ( So, who IS that kid with the oreo cookie?)

    Candian football field... bigger
    110yards by 65 yards with 20 yard end zones...

    oh... yours is in feet... well go x3 and you'll see what I mean.

    Cdn foot ball went with rugby sized fields, but Harvard didn't have room when they bukit their field, and that's why the NFL plays on a smaller field today. ANd I do not know why I need to know this.

    Our moon isn't named after Greek or Roman mythology. :-)

    The Motel Inn sign and lobby are still there, but the rooms have all been torn down. The owner of the Apple Farm bought it in the early 1990s and had planned to convert it into a restaurant, banquet facility, and small museum about the history of the Motel...but last time I drove by it just looked like a mess.
